Bundoora Nebula Residency

NIMBUS | WEEKLY ART STUDIO

In partnership with Arts Access Victoria, we are excited to announce Nimbus, a weekly visual art studio for artists with disability is back for 2019 at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.

This is a rare opportunity for a group of committed artists to explore their individual arts practice with the support and expertise of experienced artists in a contemporary art gallery setting. In addition to practical studio work, artists have access to gallery exhibitions and professional development opportunities including portfolio building, writing artist statements and preparing work for presentation.

The Nimbus supported visual arts studio is housed within the portable studio space “Nebula” inside the grounds of Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.

Arts Access Victoria are currently inviting artists with disability who work in any visual art form to apply.

WHITENESS AND ITS POWER: MOVING PAST ‘DIVERSITY’

Join us for our new History & Art Tour to hear the stories that shaped Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, including a focus on Indigenous custodianship and living Indigenous culture. Built in 1899 and originally the Smith family home, the Homestead has also been a Convalescent Farm for returned servicemen, a Repatriation Hospital, and now a public art gallery. The tour includes an exploration of architectural features and our current contemporary art exhibitions.

Hear the stories that shaped Bundoora Homestead which was used as a convalescent farm for returned servicemen and a repatriation hospital for over 70 years. The tour will include a curated viewing of key heritage items from the Darebin Art Collection and concludes with our famous Devonshire tea at the Homestead café.

Hear the stories that shaped Bundoora Homestead, built in 1899 and originally home to the Smith family a prominent horse racing and breeding property, the Homestead is a glorious example of Queen Anne style architecture and boats exquisite decorative features. The tour will include a curated viewing of key heritage items from the Darebin Art Collection and concludes with our famous Devonshire tea at the Homestead café.
