In the nineteenth century, Brunswick was the centre of Australia’s pottery manufacturing and was accordingly dubbed “Australia’s Little Staffordshire.” The exhibition focuses on three key figures from this period; The Ferry brothers, William and Graham, and Richard Sturrock. This trio’s loose collaboration produced exceptional wares from 1896 to 1910 of a type never before seen in Australia. They are considered early pioneers of our studio pottery movement and went on to illuminate and inspire their successors.
