Come and watch our artist in residence busy making new work in the gallery. Catherine Evans works across both photography and sculpture to investigate the intersection of human and geologic timescales and sites of exchange between the body and material. During her residency Evans will be developing a new body of work titled The Richter Scale which draws on the parallels between the large-scale movements of the earth and the comparatively small movements of the human body. She will be photographing and filming persons who are experiencing visible tremors, presenting this material alongside a modified seismograph — a scientific instrument used for measuring the tremors of the earth.
