If you’re into knitting, macramé, quilting, embroidery, tapestry, patchwork, felting or work with any other textile based craft then we welcome you to be part of Knitting Lab+ by taking up residence at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre from 19 May to 29 July and help create a community of crafters.

Drop in at any time during public hours to work on your piece, there will also be a number of facilitated craft classes run by Ramona Barry. Ramona is a Melbourne based writer, curator and maker specialising in craft and design, as well as an accomplished painter and poet. Her work has been published in both local and international print and online media. She has served as Chair of the Victorian Crafts Council, and regularly speaks publicly about contemporary craft practice.

All works created will be part of the exhibition to be shown in the galleries from 21 June to 29 July.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE | John Brooks | 20 June – 29 July 2018

John Brooks works across textiles, video and installation. Making intuitively, he allows the potential of the materials to inform part of the process while also potentially projecting thoughts and ideas onto non-human entities. He has a Bachelor of Fine Art (drawing) from the Victorian College of the Arts, Fine Art (honours) from Monash University and an Advanced Diploma in Textile Design from RMIT. Recent exhibitions include the third Tamworth Textile Triennial, Every Second Feels Like a Century at West Space, Materiality at Town Hall Gallery, Body + Cloth at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, and Off Grid at Blindside.
