November 7, 2012 - November 25, 2012Bundoora Homestead is proud to present Bygones, a solo exhibition by Paul Compton, as part of the 2012 artist spotlight series.
Created with sense of whimsy and playful ness, Bygones showcases the art and magic of forgotten Victorian literature, lost films stars and local folklore in an evocative exhibition of drawings, prints, handmade books and zines.
Paul Compton began exhibiting in his hometown of Melbourne in 2003. His first solo show saw him become a featured artist on radio station Triple J and since then his artworks have been acquired for public collections including the City of Darebin and the State Library of Victoria and private collections.
Compton graduated with a BA Fine Art (Honours) From RMIT University in 2007. His subjects for exhibitions have ranged from coping with the death of a family pet to pop-up books featuring haunted Australian houses to a show of circus and vaudeville themed drawings. His inspiration comes from a particular interest in the Victorian era as well as forgotten or obscure figures from history, folklore, literature and pop culture.
